Drum Corps Announces Reunion
The Eau Claire Boys Drum and Bugle Corps Alumni Association has announced dates for the 50th year reunion. The event will be held at VFW Post 305 on Starr Avenue in Eau Claire on June 20th beginning at 1 pm and lasting until 10pm or? The event will include a family fun gathering in the early afternoon, followed by a barbecue and then music in the evening. The weekend festivities will also include a breakfast on Sunday morning at the Post and a tribute to the corps at the 10th annual Drums Along the Red Cedar drum and bugle corps competition that night.
The reunion is organized in recognition of all corps members from the years 1953 – 1969 which was under the direction of Founder, Walter E. Brown. Mike Brown, Walt’s son, and Director of the prep corps asks that former corps members and families help us to reach out to the 800 members that participated in drum and bugle corps during that era. Committee Chairman, Larry Hamler, asks those interested to visit the website for more information at www.ecboysdrumcorps.org, or call at 715-834-1247. Also the organization is looking for former members that would like to be a part of the organizations’ committee and assist with the preparations. VFW Post 305 is home to the memorial dedicated to drum corps in the Chippewa Valley during that era.
The committee is extending an invitation to members of the Durand Girl Scout Drum and Bugle Corps, which was active during that era. We are looking for former members to join our committee to help with the planning and share in the reunion spirit for both corps.
