The year 1961 is considered a turn-around year for the Eau Claire Boys. We celebrated this Golden Era of Drum and Bugle Corp in 2008 with a commemoration to founder Walter Brown, Mike Brown and Cubby Page in May; followed in 2009 by a joint “50 year” reunion with the Durand Girls Drum and Bugle Corp alumni. And just like 1961 complete with new uniforms, instruments, increased training, and a hefty schedule, that 2008 ceremony prompted committee members to search the ‘what’s next’.
Chairman Larry Hamler, with the help of web designer Erick Elkins created this website to keep the memories and spirit of those by-gone days relevant. Like the good feelings of accomplishments of that ’61 corp, this website can boast that in less than 3 years over 10,000 hits have been logged. Your support and enthusiasm has been beyond any expectations.
In the coming months, Larry has decided to take the “corps” to the next level. Some of the changes will include music downloads from that “Golden Era”, side bars to access other corps, the incorporation of the Durand Girls Corps as a partner corps in our website offerings, updates as they become available of the move toward National Archiving and more photos and current event information.
We reach out to you to assist us in making the updates relevant, the pages enjoyable and easy for browsing, feedback, and all so important - your stories. With this involvement, the all important history of our two corps will continue to provide you and yours ready access to all things drum corps. Please send your website suggestions, comments, trivia to Larry Hamler, using the contact bar, and while you’re at it, register!! 10,000 hits and counting, and now we’re counting on you!! Visit often.
